UC Nexus is one of the two systemwide efforts with the UC/K-12 Technology Initiatives Unit established in 1997 by the University of California Office of the President. Focused on equity and access related to the development of technology-based learning and teaching activities for diverse K-12 youth. UC Nexus has the following objectives

to identify, encourage, and support campus-based UC/K-12 collaborative projects exploring effective uses of computers and the Internet,
to serve as primary policy advisor to the department of Educational Outreach (EO) on the technology issues in UC/K-12 collaborative efforts,
to provide incentive funding for studies of equity, access, and uses of instructional technology in UC Partnership Schools,
to help advise and coordinate technology planning on outreach issues within the University of California's online K-12 resources available via the Digital California Project high speed broadband network for K-12.
