UC Nexus is one of the two systemwide efforts with the UC/K-12 Technology Initiatives Unit established in 1997 by the University of California Office of the President.  Focused on equity and access related to the development of technology-based learning and teaching activities for diverse K-12 youth.  UC Nexus has the following objectives 

  • to identify, encourage, and support campus-based UC/K-12 collaborative projects exploring effective uses of computers and the Internet, 

  • to serve as primary policy advisor to the department of Educational Outreach (EO) on the technology issues in UC/K-12 collaborative efforts, 

  • to provide incentive funding for studies of equity, access, and uses of instructional technology in UC Partnership Schools, 

  • to help advise and coordinate technology planning on outreach issues within the University of California's online K-12 resources available via the Digital California Project high speed broadband network for K-12.
